Only 2 more weeks of camp. I have loved this experience so much. I am really excited about meeting with James about my portfolio and auditions for next season. High School Musical maybe? :)

I closed King Lear this weekend. I was sad to see the cast go but it will be nice to have my evenings back now.

It's been really fun to work on Once Upon a Mattress again. I love being Musical Director. It's a really talented group of students.

I have also loved going to church at OFUMC... AND teaching Sunday School. I've been teaching 3rd-5th grade sunday school. I'm using Creative Dramatics to teach the parables.

I'm looking forward to get back to Columbus. The drive back to GA should be fun. As soon as I arrive I get right back into rehearsals for Westville. That will be fun. Then before I know it classes will have started again.

You can't beat our meat

I will one day live in Omaha, NE for good.

It's decided.

I have never found a city that I have fit in to so well.

The company that I am working for is the 3rd Largest Theatre for Youth in the country. I have learned so much as an educator since being here. I have worked a lot on my professional portfolio and am really excited about where I'm going with it.

The city itself is so amazing. Great restaurants, parks, concerts, theatres, bars, shops, events, clubs, COFFEE SHOPS, etc. I could spend all day in Old Market walking around...

I have found an amazing church family as well.. Omaha First UMC. I've been visiting for the past 3 Sundays and they already have me teaching Sunday School/Creative Dramatics for 3rd-5th Grade for the rest of the month. I'm so excited :)

I love the people. I have met so many wonderful people: at work and outside of work. I have finally been able to just introduce myself and meet people. I have found some very close friends who I will hate to leave.

This summer has been one for maturity as well. It's not been the easiest. But I have grown more this summer into an adult than I ever have. Some things had to change in order for life to continue in the positive direction that I want it to.

I love where I am at in my life. I am right on the cusp of something big. I'm aching to be out of school with a degree. What's next after CSU? Grad School? Full time teaching artist? We'll see.

That being said, I cannot wait to be back at CSU. I am really excited about the opportunities that await me there for this year. I'm excited about the things that I know I am already going to be working on, That being said, I am recognizing that I am a different person from when I left. There are things that are going to change about the way I live, interact, work, etc. once I get back. I'm prepared for it.

BWS

Week 2

Today marked the end of week 2 of camp here at the OTCYP and the end of my first camp. "The Brave Little Tailors" performed 3 times today. They did a wonderful job. It's really neat to think back to the first day of class for some of them and look at how much they grew over that 2 weeks. "Heidi Ho the Improv Show" has been going really well too. Such a fun group of girls. I'm looking forward to their performance next week.

Last night I went to my 4th coffee shop in Omaha so far... 13th Street Coffee Company. I am excited how I have already tried to explore the city so much...coffee shops... restaurants... attractions... etc. This weekend is going to be really exciting. I am about to head out with Mari and Candace to the bars. Tomorrow is the College World Series. Sunday is seeing "The Wizard of Oz." Then Monday we start all over again.. I am excited to start working with the "King Lear" class. Six weeks is going to be a really cool experience.

I have already survived two tornadoes coming really close to me since I've been here.. scary lol.

"We're home."

BWS

Omaha

I'm sitting in the local coffeehouse in Old Market, the cutest area of Downtown Omaha. My haven. I've been here many times since arriving here in the Lower Midwest. I love it here. The city is gorgeous, a "hidden gem" so to speak. There is so much to do here. Whenever I move to a new city I always tell myself that I'm going to do all the fun stuff that they have in the city but I never get around to it. I am going to challenge myself to go through with it while I'm here. I've already been to a bunch of really cute places... Spaghetti Works, Scooters, The Max, Manhattans, etc. The people here that I have met are wonderful. I've loved getting to know so many new people recently... Coffee with Lindsay... Dinner with Amanda... The Max with Mari and Candace... Dinner at Jim's... so many amazing experiences. I love being away in a new and exciting city.

The company that I am teaching at is amazing. I have already grown so much as an educator being able to teach with some wonderful people here. The first few weeks I am teaching an Improv camp in the morning and a Production camp for "The Brave Little Tailor" in the afternoon.

The storms here are pretty intense... but they are beautiful to look at. The lightning takes over the entire sky with every bolt. Not something I'm used to as a Georgia Boy :)

I went to my first casino in Iowa the other night. That was an adventure. It's funny because I'd only ever seen casinos on TV or Movies, but it was fun to see all of the stereotypical people there. We went after leaving The Max at like 2 am and it was Packed! Who knows how long some of those people had been there. I didn't spend any money but I got to play one of the machines for my friend Adam :)

The hydrants are open... cool breezes blow. It won't be long now.

A Wolf at the Table

"It was strange, his sudden disappearance, but I accepted it. I expected never to see him again; the hungry city had eaten him. But suddenly his mother spotted him standing beside a policia and she ran, screaming, weeping, and waving her arms crazily above her head. I was mystified. In the room that night I'd asked my mother, "But how did she find him? How?" The feeling was like seeing someone step up into the air and fly away. How?"

"The best part of every lesson was opening the violin case and lowering my face to inhale. Also, it seemed almost a miracle to me that this hollow figure eight, as light and elegant as a lady, as my aunt Curtis, was made from wood, from a tree, like the trees out back behind our house in Shutesbury. I just could not see how this was even possible. And that wood - wood - could make a sound so ethereal you were tempted to look over your shoulder and see if somebody transparent were standing right behind you, watching and smiling. Too much junk can pull you down on your journey.

I'm ready for this next stop on my journey...

BWS
